Disney+ and Hulu combine to provide one-third of U.S. favorites

The completed acquisition of Hulu by the Walt Disney Company makes the combined strength from Disney+ and Hulu responsible for one-third of the top U.S. titles.

The research conducted by Ampere Analytics states that Disney+ and Hulu's "catalog size would rank second only to Amazon Prime Video."

Disney will offer more to viewers via Hulu acquisition

Disney's current library consists of animated family favourites and classic classical works that are aimed towards a broad audience.

Ampere's research reveals that "Disney+'s content strategy is based on its solid Children & Family content portfolio as well as its tentpole Sci-Fi & Fantasy releases from major franchises. Hulu's content library will complement Disney+'s because it features the most popular genres that are currently not being served through The shows that exhibit an absence of established titles have led to the acquisition to offer greater balance to the platform audience.

Focusing on analysis and market research information, Ampere also notes that "Hulu has more subscribers than Disney+ in the US" in the month of October 2023.

It's been widely known that Disney intends to become the only place for people looking to watch video on demand. Its acquisition of Hulu is just one other acquisition to expand the existing portfolio of the media giant of IPs and offerings to users.

This is not the only innovation in the world of the top streaming platforms, however. Netflix recently announced that it will broadcast live sporting events.

Hulu purchased by Disney

In November this year, the Walt Disney Company announced the acquisition of the platform.

The media giant stated "Disney anticipates that it will pay NBCU about $8.61 billion, which is the NBCU share of Hulu's $27.5 billion guarantee floor value for Hulu that was negotiated when the companies entered into their agreement in 2019, minus the expected capital call contribution that is due from NBCU in exchange for Disney."
