Worldcoin is now integrated into Minecraft, Reddit and Shopify
The crypto-based company Worldcoin is now integrated into Minecraft, Reddit, Telegram, Shopify, and Mercado Libre.
December 27, 2023 17:02Worldcoin is a new project that was created by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman - was launched in the spring of this year. Its latest update of World ID offers a service that allows you to distinguish between humans and bots online. Through the creation of the World ID profile and, If you'd like you want, scanning your eyes.
For instance, the latest integrations by Worldcoin permit Shopify store owners to utilize World ID for fraud prevention and for one-time deals. Reddit moderators are able to grant permission to users who are using the World ID to ensure they don't post spam.
As TechCrunch stated, Tiago Sasa head of Tools for Humanity at Worldcoin told TechCrunch:
"This is not only an initial wave of applications and services, but also a brand-new developer platform where developers can build," Sada said. "We're looking forward to seeing what ideas developers come up with. [...] the most innovative ideas that come directly from the developers."
The levels of new World ID integration
This integration offers renewal of the authentication levels, which creates three kinds of World IDs. Firstly, the 'casual' level involves downloading the Worldcoin application and creating an World ID. In this case, there is no need to scan your irises - you just need to set up your profile.
The standard or World ID Orb level involves both building a profile and having your iris scanned by a Worldcoin Orb, in order to verify your identity. The 'high' level or World ID Orb+ requires you to use facial recognition to pass the application protocol.
You don't even have to insert a name when creating an World ID. As Sada said:
"You can use it completely in complete anonymity. The most important thing to do is showing you're distinct."
Users are able to create a 'casual' World ID per device However, once you decide to be scanned with an Orb you may only hold one World ID.
Speaking on the benefit that using the World ID system Sada said:
"It's not 100% perfect, but it may aid in preventing people from abusing systems, like having to vote 100 times on a single poll, or having hundreds - if not thousands - of accounts"
Worldcoin data security issues
While the crypto-related project is steadily growing and is gaining momentum, it's also facing criticism. Earlier this year, Kenya banned Worldcoin from scanning any more of its citizens' irises - due to the fact that it failed to inform users of the required data and security measures taken.
Some critics have voiced concerns about the fact that Worldcoin has a focus on developing countries by offering those who sign up with the company 25 WLD tokens (worth around $60.50). However, despite this criticism, Worldcoin still maintains steady growth, with roughly 5 million users worldwide having a World ID and 2.6 million who have scanned their Irises with their Orb hardware.
On Worldcoins development, Sada said:
"Five million people is still quite a ways from the world (adopting that,)"
"So (2024 is) about improving the quality of life, while at the same time, getting to all those around the globe."
